Crowns and bridges
Restore your smile with crowns and bridges
A crown is a durable porcelain or zirconium cap placed over a tooth to strengthen it. This may be necessary when a tooth is weakened, for example, after a root canal, a large filling, or for aesthetic reasons.
A bridge is used when one or more teeth are missing. Two crowns are placed on the adjacent teeth, with an artificial tooth between them.
Treatment in two appointments
The production of a crown or bridge takes place in two steps:
- First appointment: the tooth will be ground down under anesthesia. An impression or 3D scan will then be taken, along with a color determination. You will be given a temporary replacement to take home.
- Second appointment: After approximately two weeks, the temporary crown or bridge is replaced with the permanent one. This is carefully fitted and then secured in place.
